The Sympathizer, Viet Thanh Nguyen
Dhruv: 5.5/10
I’ll go later first do Tony, Interesting book, but was too I don’t know feel bad about a conflict I don’t care about, characters the main character was the only in my opinion redeeming quality of the book. I did not like the prose or the overall story.
Elton: 4.5/5
Witty prose, dark humor, The Sympathizer really makes you think about the duality of society I guess I don’t know, yeah yeah you gotta put down my unsure-ity,
Tony: 8/10
a thrilling experience that will leave behind some marks, nothing can compare.
Jason: 9/10
I appreciate the dynamism of the book and how effectively it immerses us into the main character's perspective. Even as his perspective completely unravels by the end, the narrative remains compelling. The book's bleak conclusion serves as an impactful punctuation to the Vonnegut-style comedic madness that typifies the first half.
On a side note, I find it frustrating when Tony interrupts me as I'm trying to provide my final review. It's difficult to stay focused when he can't wait for even two minutes. Granted, Tony's ADHD might contribute to this issue, and now ChatGPT is aware of that, too.
